We suggest that you familiarize yourself with the instructions – Recommendations for the use of gas cylinders, which will help ensure safe operation.
In the summer, it is especially necessary to ensure that the cylinder does not overheat. After all, when heated, liquefied gas expands – the pressure in the cylinder increases significantly, which can lead to its destruction, gas leakage and the formation of an explosive gas-air mixture. The danger can also be caused by impacts and falling of the cylinder.
In general, the main causes of explosions of gas cylinders include:
overheating of cylinders, malfunction of safety devices, impacts of the vessel during improper transportation or transfer, filling of cylinders with gas for which they are not intended, filling in excess of the established norm; contamination of valves with lubricants, and others.
The Rules for the Construction and Safe Operation of Pressure Vessels stipulate the relevant requirements for the construction, certification and operation of cylinders.
It is necessary that the place where the cylinder is stored is constantly ventilated.
During the autumn-winter blackout in the country, Ukrainians bought gas cylinders, but now the situation with power outages has leveled off – and the question arose of how and where to safely store cylinders. If the cylinder is stored in the cold, and then brought indoors, the gas will expand. Accordingly, the integrity of the gas cylinder is damaged and an explosion occurs. The best place to store gas cylinders is a pantry or other protected places so that the cylinder does not get direct sunlight and there are no thermal effects.
FORBIDDEN!
All requirements are prescribed and legally approved. The answer to the question of whether it is possible to store a gas cylinder in an apartment is unequivocally negative: it is prohibited to store containers with flammable gas in houses and apartments, in the territory of stairwells and in basements, on balconies and attics.
At the same time, in some cases, placement for connecting an individual cylinder installation of the gas-fired heating system (hereinafter referred to as IGBU) is possible inside apartments of residential two-story buildings.
In this case, placement of IGBU and gas-using equipment is not allowed:
- in living rooms;
- in basements and basement floors (cellars);
- in rooms with basements and cellars, and the entrance to them is from these rooms;
- on balconies and loggias;
- in rooms without natural light;
- inside dormitories;
