Gas cylinder – comfort in everyday life, if you follow the rules
The use of household gas cylinders has become a common practice for residents of private houses, summer cottages, as well as for those looking for an alternative to electric stoves or centralized gas supply. However, along with convenience comes responsibility: improper storage of the cylinder can pose a serious danger. Therefore, we suggest that you familiarize yourself with the basic rules that will ensure the safe use of gas cylinders.
BVS shares basic tips that will help you avoid risks and extend the life of your cylinder.
Recommended
- Storage of cylinders: Store cylinders that are not in use in non-residential premises with proper ventilation.
- Cylinder location: Place the cylinder at a distance of at least 1 meter from the gas stove; only one cylinder is allowed to be installed.
- Checking for leaks: After connecting the gas pipeline to the cylinder and the stove, check the connections for leaks using a soap solution.
- Closing the valve: During long-term storage of the cylinder, the valve must be closed.
Prohibited
- Placement in multi-storey buildings: Do not place cylinders in buildings higher than two floors, as well as in basements and cellars.
- Use near open flames: Avoid using cylinders in rooms with open flames, such as fireplaces or stoves.
- Use of damaged cylinders: Do not use cylinders with visible defects (dents, faulty valve) or without the appropriate certificate.
- Refueling at gas stations: It is prohibited to refuel cylinders from a gas pump. Filling must be carried out on specialized equipment with weight control.
Following these recommendations will ensure your safety and efficient use of gas cylinders.
